Origin of the surname Kulaev. Ossetians - Boris Kulaev Super! Everyone asks: “Well, is Kulaev already a Pro?”

Orenburg province (now Kuvandyk district of Orenburg region). Mukhametkhan first studied at the madrasah at the mosque in his native village, and two years later he transferred to the Russian-Bashkir school that had opened. After graduating in 1886, he entered the Orenburg Gymnasium. After finishing his studies at the gymnasium in 1896, Mukhametkhan Kulaev went to Kazan to enter the medical faculty of Kazan University. But access there was denied to foreigners and non-Christians, and therefore Mukhametkhan Sakhipgareevich decided to convert to Orthodoxy, he was baptized directly by the priest of the university church and became Mstislav Alexandrovich.

In 1902, Mstislav Kulaev received a medical diploma and was appointed a doctor in a hospital in the city of Kazan. In 1910 he received the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences. In addition to medical science, Kulaev is studying the phonetic structure and grammar of the Bashkir language. Mstislav Kulaev is the author of the alphabet and primer for the Bashkirs on a Russian graphic basis and in 1912 published the book “Fundamentals of sound pronunciation and the alphabet for the Bashkirs.”

In 1913 he was sent to medical work in the city of Warsaw. The First World War found Kulaev there: military service began until the beginning of the October Revolution and Russia's exit from the war with Germany; he served as the chief physician of the 275th field hospital of the Southwestern Front. After the start of the revolution, he returned to Kazan, then to Orenburg at the invitation of the Chairman of the Bashkir Government Sharif Akhmetovich Manatov. From this moment on, Mstislav Kulaev begins to actively participate in the Bashkir national movement.

After the start of negotiations with the Soviet authorities on the transition of the Bashkir Army towards the Red Army, a reorganization of the Bashkir government took place in the village of Temyasovo on January 26, 1919. Mstislav Aleksandrovich Kulaev (Mukhametkhan Sakhipgareevich) was elected its new chairman, and A.-Z. Validov - became the commander of the Bashkir army. This government sought to formalize autonomy already in the Soviet system. The Bashkir government sent its delegation to Moscow, consisting of the chairman of the Bashkir government Mukhametkhan (Mstislav) Kulaev, a member of the Bashkir government Mullayan Khalikov and the commander of the Bashkir Army Abdrashit Bikbavov to Moscow for negotiations on the formation of the Bashkir Autonomous Republic.

As a result, on March 20, 1919, an Agreement between the central Soviet government and the Bashkir Government on Soviet Autonomous Bashkiria was signed in Moscow. This historic act on the part of the Soviet government was signed by the Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars Vladimir Lenin, acting. Chairman of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee Mikhail Vladimirsky and People's Commissar Joseph Stalin, from the Bashkir side - Chairman of the Bashkir Government Mukhametkhan (Mstislav) Kulaev, member of the Bashkir Central Shuro

Sergey, when we last talked, you said that bodybuilding is a job for you. Does the work seem to be paying off?

Yes! How you work, this is the result!

- This year's fruits?

Four starts. Four absolute victories.

- Well, that’s impossible!

As we see, everything is possible. There would be a desire!

- Was the desire very strong?

Probably more than everyone else!

- Today, it was probably clear to everyone that you were first!

I don’t know who understood this, I definitely didn’t! When I started preparing for this tournament, I knew that the level of the athletes would be very strong! Two world champions, Mr. Olympia among amateurs, and all the guys were very strong. Everyone prepared very well. The guys from Europe arrived in excellent shape. Therefore, it was impossible to predict who would be absolute. Maybe I was the favorite, but even I didn’t know how my body would react. I've been on a diet for eight months now! This is already my fourth start, and this is the first time in my life that I was preparing for such a long season. This is a new approach to the competition, so the result was not so predictable, but I gave it 110 percent.

- Super! Everyone asks: “Well, is Kulaev already a Pro?”

In my heart, of course, I’m already a Pro, but now I don’t live as a professional, but work as an ordinary instructor in the gym. And taking a Pro card in these conditions is pointless. To become a Pro-athlete you need to change your life. Otherwise, it will turn out that you are going to Formula 1 in our Zhiguli. No matter how much you accelerate on it, you will not win on it. It's the same here. No matter how much I want, working as a coach, I will not reach the required level. In order to perform in Pro, you need different knowledge, you need different finances, you need a different approach. In order to be in the Top 10, we all need to more actively develop bodybuilding in Russia, and, importantly, our athletes receive at least 10% of what, for example, football players receive. Then, maybe, our winners in the Pro League will appear. In the meantime, the bodybuilder receives the way he receives (that is, he receives nothing), then it makes no sense to talk about any results. Even the most ardent fan of bodybuilding will lose any desire to perform in a couple of years. While you are the current champion, everyone wants to take a photo with you, but two years pass and the question arises: “What’s next?”

Grand Prix Baikal, Irkutsk, 2016

- And what will Sergei Kulaev have in two years?

There will be a child, I will raise him! (smiles)

- Victory in Murmansk at the Russian Cup.

All the tournaments where I competed were planned before the start of the season, before winning the Arnold Classic. For some reason everyone thought that after winning Arnold Classic They gave me a Pro card right there, stating that I automatically became a professional and did not have the right to compete in amateur competitions. Nothing like this! I just got opportunity become a professional. Now I choose. I’m not going to try: it’s either go or not, you have to feel confident. You can try here too. As for the victory in Russia, this is my third victory and the second absolute one. I'm happy. Pleased with the work done. As for finances... I would like ten times more, twenty. (laughs) It's worth the effort the athlete puts in.

Russian Cup, Murmansk

How did you survive eight months on breadcrumbs?

Thanks to my wife, thanks to my coach, who helped me both financially and provided moral support. Thanks to the financial support of my sponsors - "Real Steel", Mr. Frank, many thanks to the whole team! Geneticlab Ruslan Khaletsky, Konstantin Morozov- these are the people who invested in me. Thanks to them, my preparation was not so difficult. And so, my diet began December 15, 2015 and ended today August 7, 2016.

- Probably – it will end?

No, already over! I already ate and drank water! (uncontrollable laughter)

- How did your wife endure everything?

How? (smiles) That's why she's a wife! Suffering, where to go? (laughs) She understands everything perfectly. We met when I was already an athlete, she already knew what she was doing. But I’m not a fan who lives only by hardware, we often go out of town and go for walks. So I am very grateful to her, this is our joint victory!

Russian Cup, Murmansk

- What is happening now with bodybuilding in Russia in your opinion?

To be honest, I don't know. Everything probably stands still, but the athletes I see are progressing – this makes me happy! With us, each athlete is on his own; if he doesn’t have a coach or support, no one needs him. There is no one to expect help from.

- Trainer?

This is the person who created me and creates me as an athlete, as a person.

- What would you add?

I want to thank my sponsors, wife, coach. Especially for him, because he was worried all these eight months, probably even more than I was. Parents, fans. Thanks to them for their support; without them, these victories probably would not have happened. Everyone contributed to my victories! I wish everyone health and patience, do not forget that in addition to sports there is personal life and it is much more important and gives much more! Believe in yourself, everything will work out! Be careful!

- Plans?

I will be preparing for the wedding! September 24th! For me, this will be the most significant conclusion of this season! Such a win, a collar on the neck. (laughs)

- Well, this is a good victory!

This is the best victory!

Grand Prix Baikal, Irkutsk, 2016

We asked a couple of questions to Sergei’s coach - Boris Vasiliev:

- Sergei Kulaev said today that it was you who “created” him.

(embarrassed) I can say alaverdi. Sergey is such a fertile ground for doing something that this guy succeeded. Probably, many remember the moment when he fell on stage in St. Petersburg and many gave up on him. But now we see a different picture, and Sergei and I have an idea to make the phrase “He who doesn’t fall doesn’t get up!” It was a landmark moment: he fell on stage, and after that he did not lose a single tournament!

- Transition to PRO?

This is a long process. Being an extra at any tournament, PRO or non-PRO, makes no sense. Everyone I work with is determined to win prizes, although, to be honest, only to win. Today, for many reasons, we do not have an athlete who could adequately represent Russia in the IFBB PRO, and Sergey is no exception, experts see this, but he is moving in the right direction, and I think that if he has another year and a half or two He will work in the same direction if he has enough passion, if we all support him... A lot of ifs. Professional bodybuilding is a different planet, and I can’t even call it a sport. This is such a separate life. There must be so many global factors coinciding here that it is extremely difficult to guess whether Sergei will be in PRO or not. Of course we all want this. But he needs to both gain and correct those genetic disadvantages that he has, like any athlete; work on quality, on overall volumes, that is, work, work and work! Therefore, it seems to me even incorrect to talk now about moving to PRO. And the people who say why Sergei is still not in PRO... I don’t want to offend anyone, but maybe they don’t have eyes? I believe in Sergei, I believe that everything will work out, but now a move to PRO would be stupid, and I don’t want to discuss it.

The owner of the surname Kulaev, without a doubt, can be proud of his surname, since it is a most interesting monument of oriental writing and culture.

The surname Kulaev has a very interesting history of origin and belongs to a common type of surnames that originate from Turkic speakers, namely people from the Golden Horde: either from the Pechenegs or from the Polovtsians. Accordingly, the roots of the surname Kulaev go back to the 15th-17th centuries.

The penetration of foreign national foundations into the composition of Russian surnames, and, in particular, into the composition of the Kulaev surname, was facilitated by the historical fact that many nobles in Russia were non-Russian in origin. Coming from other countries, they served in the Russian army, were baptized, i.e. became Orthodox, married Russians, and after several generations became completely “Russianized,” retaining only the foreign-language basis of their surname. There were also interethnic marriages in other social groups (merchants, peasants, etc.).

According to historical documents, the Kulaev family has been in Russian service since the end of the 16th - 17th centuries. It originates from the family of Kazan princes Kulaevs - the sons of Prince Rostov. According to a number of sources, the Kazan prince, Murza Kulay, was an active participant in the defense of Kazan in 1548 - 1554, as well as a member of the ambassadorial delegation to Ivan IV in 1548. He went over to the Russian side in 1551, but already in 1553 he sided with the Arsk rebels, for which in 1554 he was captured and killed by Russian punitive forces. His active rebel activity was continued by his brother, who was also captured on the Moshe River and put in prison. According to the assumption of a number of researchers, it was from him that the Kulaev servicemen came. For example, already in documents of the 17th century, according to the “Onomasticon” of S.B. Veselovsky, in 1614 Yakov Semenovich Kulaev was mentioned as a townsman in Tver.

The surname itself, according to one version, can be derived from the Turkic “kul” - “slave”, “servant” meaning “servant of God”, or “hand”. According to another hypothesis, the surname could also be based on the word “kula” - “tower”, borrowed from Turkic languages. In this case, the ancestor of the Kulaevs could have been one of the guard soldiers who stood on the watchtowers, or a mosque minister who called believers to prayer from the minaret.

Already in the 15th-16th centuries in Rus', surnames began to be fixed and passed on from generation to generation, indicating a person’s belonging to a specific family. These were possessive adjectives with the suffixes -ov / -ev, -in, initially indicating the father's name or nickname. Therefore, the surname Kulaev, although it was formed from an eastern name, was subsequently formed with the help of Russian suffixes and began to be perceived as Slavic.

Thus, the surname Kulaev, as a wonderful monument of oriental writing and culture, has its own unique history and etymology.

From the turn of the XVI - XVII centuries. in Russian service. From the family of the Kazan princes Kulaevs - the sons of Prince Rastov (PSRL, 29, p. 67). Kazan Prince Kulay Murza - an active participant in the defense of Kazan in 1548 - 1554, ambassador to Ivan IV in 1548 (PSRL, 29, p. 67), in 1551 he went over to the Russian side (PSRL, 29, pp. 71 - 72 ), but in 1553 he took the side of the Ar rebels (PSRL, 29, p. 231), in 1554 he was captured and killed by Russian punitive forces (PSRL, 29, p. 233). His brother continued to participate in the uprising until 1556, until in 1556 he was captured on the river. Möshe (PSRL, 29, p. 249). Perhaps the Kulaev servicemen came from him. Kulaev Yakov Semenovich was mentioned in 1614 as a townsman in Tver (Veselovsky 1974, p. 168). the surname may be from the Turkic kul ‘slave’. .(ST)

Version 2. History of the origin of the surname Kulaev

The surname Kulaev is derived from the old Tatar male name Kulai, formed by adding to the word “kul”, which translated into Russian means “servant of God; comrade, companion; worker, tiller, warrior”, affix -ai.

Probably, by giving the child this name, the parents wanted their son to become a real man and a true friend. They wanted him to be a devoted Muslim, and this is not surprising in a traditional society that places great importance on religion.

One of the first mentions of the surname dates back to the beginning of the 17th century: in “Onomasticon” S.B. Veselovsky recorded Kulaev Yakov Semenov, a townsman, 1614, Tver.
