Onegin's life in St. Petersburg was full of love intrigues and secular amusements, but now he will be bored in the countryside. Upon arrival, it turns out that his uncle has died, and Eugene became his heir. Onegin settles in the village, and soon the blues really take possession of him. Onegin's neighbor turns out to be eighteen-year-old Vladimir Lensky, a romantic poet who came from Germany. Lensky and Onegin agree. Lensky is in love with Olga Larina, the daughter of a landowner. Her pensive sister Tatiana does not look like the always cheerful Olga. Having met Onegin, Tatiana falls in love with him and writes him a letter. However, Onegin rejects her: he is not looking for a quiet family life. Lensky and Onegin are invited to the Larins. Onegin is not happy with this invitation, but Lensky persuades him to go. At the Larins' dinner, Onegin, in order to make Lensky jealous, unexpectedly begins to court Olga. Lensky challenges him to a duel. The fight ends with the death of Lensky, and Onegin leaves the village. Two years later, he appears in St. Petersburg and meets Tatiana. She is an important lady, the wife of a prince. Onegin was inflamed with love for her, but this time he was already rejected, despite the fact that Tatyana also loves him, but wants to remain faithful to her husband.

The author of the work is Pushkin himself. He constantly interferes in the course of the narrative, reminds of himself ("But the north is harmful to me"), makes friends with Onegin ("The conditions of light, overthrowing the burden, as he fell behind the fuss, I made friends with him at that time, I liked his features" ), in his lyrical digressions, shares with readers his reflections on a variety of life issues, expresses his ideological position. In some places, the author breaks the course of the narrative and introduces metatext elements into the text (“The reader is waiting for the rhyme“ rose ”- here, take it quickly”). Pushkin even depicted himself next to Onegin on the banks of the Neva (see image) and wanted to place this and a number of other drawings as illustrations for the novel in verse, but he could not find a common language with the publishers of the Nevsky Almanac magazine. Pushkin himself responded to this with several ironic epigrams.

The author's world is shown through the image of a lyric hero-poet, storyteller and friend of Onegin. The poet's constant participation in the novel of the poet himself gives "Eugene Onegin" a peculiar character: - Onegin meets Pushkin in St. Petersburg and Odessa, - Tatyana's letter is kept by Pushkin ("I am holy to his bank"), - he tells us, interrupting the course of events in the novel, about episodes of his biography. In the form of "lyrical digressions", Pushkin included in his novel many beautiful lyric poems, a poetic expression of the soul: The mind of cold observations And the hearts of sorrowful notes

What a job! Dear Inessa Nikolaevna, thank you very much. I already have 42 teaching years. The mood is nowhere worse: these associations of schools surprise, annoy, discourage the desire to work. And then such a joy! I looked through it, downloaded it, thought it over and said to myself: "Nonsense, with God's help we will survive it!" God save you!

Dear colleagues, I beg your pardon if I suddenly offend someone. Since then, as the literature was driven into the framework of tests, I do not teach it. And then I looked at the tests for "Eugene Onegin". It hurts me that our literature is being driven into the primitive framework of tests.

  • #11

    Dear Irina Alekseevna!
Nobody drove our literature anywhere. As we taught, we teach: with immersion in the text, with writing essays, with text analysis. Look, we are using the 1968 manuals. And this is not conservatism, but a selection from the methodology of what teaches, helps to think, to answer problematic questions.
There are practically no tests left in the Unified State Exam and the State Examination Agency. There are essays and several questions from the theory of literature. Watch presentations. This is not all that I give in the lessons, but this is a detailed analysis of all chapters. And thinking teachers will teach as they were taught once. And those who are just starting the path of a teacher, I hope, will determine what is really important and necessary, and what is nonsense.
You saw one test on the page, it is a pity that you did not read other materials. I am proud of them without false modesty, although I would have changed a lot, and not in the direction of tests.
Our children grow up thinking. Well, at our school, anyway. Maybe I was lucky with the children ... But even after leaving school, they return to the classics, read, think.

    Dear Inessa Nikolaevna!

In 2007, I made a report at the Onegin Readings in Mikhailovsky about my approach to the plot chronology of the novel “Eugene Onegin”. In the same year, I made reports on this topic at the Pushkin House (Moscow), at a meeting of the Pushkin Commission, and published a brochure "We honor everyone with zeros, and with ones - ourselves, or how I had to open the plot chronology of the novel" Eugene Onegin ", which you can find at https://yadi.sk/i/AL_2Gm88zu8ET and download. In 2011, Honored Teacher of Ukraine Nadezhda Filippovna Zhukovskaya (teacher of Russian language and literature) read this brochure, organized a discussion of my work among teachers of Russian language and literature in her city of Umansk and sent me a very positive feedback from them.
This review prompted me to make a film for students about the plot chronology of the novel "Eugene Onegin", which would help students to perceive this work more deeply in no more than one lesson (the film lasts 32 minutes). The film is located at https://yadi.sk/i/rtkxzRoCmk7tv and is available for download or on YouTube under the phrase "plot chronology of the novel by Eugene Onegin."

I would be pleased if you could read my brochure, as well as watch the film, appreciate the usefulness of showing it to students and posting these things on your site.
I would be grateful if you would give your opinion about my work and the film, indicating errors, shortcomings and wishes.
    respectfully
